A multiinstrumentalist and capoeirista from Rio de Janeiro. Being brought up in a family with strong traditions of playing samba, João started his music career at the age of 14. He's played in groups performing greatest hits of MBP (Musica Popular Brasileira) as well as samba pagode.
He is a founder and a leader of João Nascimento e Banda music group. The music experience he gained as a teenager made him to be interested in chorinho and rock. Because of this fact he moved to a place being a mekka for the music genres - the capital of Brazil - Brasilia city. Soon after he became known in the music environment of Brasilia. He recorded and toured with such artists like Lenine (Tour em Brasilia), Liberdade Condicional and Mamutes.
He is also known as Mestre John - one of the members and instructors from Núcleo de Capoeira Beribazu de Varsóvia Polônia group.
