She was born and brought up in Moscow in the family of rich artistic traditions - her grandfather Nikolai Sokolov and her father Mihail were painters. The artist attended to the Secondary School of Art at Institute of Sulikov to the class of watercolour under the direction of Aleksandr Mihailov. She graduated from the Moscow Institute of Arts and Crafts (MWHPU - former Institute of Stroganov) at the Faculty of Ceramics. She has participated in group and individual exhibitions since 1980. She has lived and worked in Warsaw since 1986. Her works involve ceramics (porcelain), watercolour, gouaches and painting (oil, acrylic). She is interested in figurative compositions, portrait, landscape (including townscape). She also derives her inspirations from the sources of the Slavian culture.

 

Her works were exhibited both in Poland and abroad (e.g. in Lithuania) as well as in private collections (in the USA, Chile, France, Germany, Finland, India) and in museum collections (Moscow, Riazan, Rybinsk, Szczełykowo). She has also participated in many international art open-air workshops.

 

Katia is a member of the Association of Artists Polish Crafts.
