Continent Warsaw - Warsaw of Many Cultures portal team invites for the second edition of Multicultural Warsaw Street Party - a street festival which aim is to promote the idea of multiculturalism through the common enjoyment of music and dance. This year Street Party takes place on the last Sunday of August, 31st.

Street Party is an event of all the Warsaw citizens whose international descent makes the city a colourful cultural mosaic, which tend not to be noticed or appreciated in an everyday hurry.


This year programme, much richer than during the first edition, is a presentation of national and ethnic minorities present in Warsaw - through music, dance, crafts, languages. The Multicultural Town, which is the final point that is hit by the parade, will be a place for dance, music and language workshops, art from all over the world exhibitions, ethnic cusisine, henna and ethnic patterns paintings.


Moreover, regarding the youngest event audience there will be prepared a special kids zone which will involve dance, music, language workshops and painting activities as well as children will have a chance to play various games coming from various cultures.

Everybody is welcome to take part in the King and Queen of the Parade contest and people dressed best and most interesting will be awarded with special prizes.


The aim of the festival is to present the cultures of ethnic and national minorities from Warsaw, which actively create the city multicultural wealth thanks to music and dance. What is extremely important is the fact the festival is organized by people and organizations from minorities and also by institutions and people interested in promoting cultures of minorities to the other citizens.


Let's we join in dance, music and in the curiosity about the variety of cultures, in the very centre of Warsaw. The festival is to discover cultural differences thanks to pure enthusiasm for dance, music and art drawn from various cultures all over the world. Warsaw Street Party is for everyone to gain an insight into various cultures through the enjoyment of music and dance.



The programme:


The Parade inspired by such events like the Rio Carnival, Notting Hill Carnival, fiestas in Spain:

- the Parade starts on the square in front of Świętokrzyska underground station

- at the starting point: dance and music shows given by proffesional dancers from various dance schools in stage costumes (including samba, belly dance, meculele, capoeira)

- platform-stylized cars with music from various parts of the world will pass through Świętokrzyska and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets


The Multicultural Village: located on Krakowskie Przedmieście street area between Świętokrzyska and Królewska streets:

- the final of the King and Queen of the Parade contest

- music and dance groups performances (including Indian and African dances, samba, salsa, belly dance, flamenco, capoeira, maculele, hula, Israeli and Japanese dance)

- dance and drum workshops

- ethnic cuisine and stalls with art and craft from varios parts of the world (e.g. Russian, Arab, Indian, Latin American, Jewish, Caucasian, African, Tibetan)

- the special kids zone (including go game, origami, Latin dance workshops, capoeira workshops, language classes, calligraphy workshops, stories and fairytales from varios parts of the world).
