Another event from PEOPLE FROM THE CONTINENT series is taking place on Friday, July 11th, in music clubs Dobra Karma and Radio Luxembourg. This time Warsaw is becoming Russian what involves a soirée with a Russian painter – Katia Sokołowej-Zyzak, a vernissage and an exhibition of her works, a concert by Evgen Malinovskiy – an actor, a musician and a singer, ‘trans-rosja’ (‘trans-russia’) performance and a screening of cult Russian animated films ‘Masyanya’.
Besides, among the highlights of the evening are photo exhibition, visualisations, Russian cuisine, DJ party. PEOPLE FROM THE CONTINENT is the project involving cultural events which aim is to promote artists from ethnic and national minorities living and working in Warsaw.

The programme:
  • a soirée with a Russian painter – Katia Sokołowa-Zyzak
  • a vernissage and an exhibition of her works from the series ‘THE CAT IN THE RUSSIAN WINDOW’ which ‘was created was a result of diffusion of some fascinations: first of all, it’s the result of striving to reveal the unique beauty of wooden window frames of Russian cottages. […] On the other hand, it was obvious the geometrical order of wooden ornaments requires showing the cat. A cat sitting on a cottage window-still – is this something what is very distinctive for Russian villages’
  • a photo exhibition of Moscow underground stations by Marysia Zyzak
  • a screening of cult animated films from the series ‘Masyanya’ by Oleg Kuvaev showing everyday life in present Russia and because of the stylistics often compared to ‘South Park’ animation
  • 'trans-rosja' (trans-russia) performance
  • a concert given by Evgen Malinovskiy
  • a screening of films realised during documentary film workshops ‘Russia-Poland. New Gaze’, organised by Adam Mickiewicz Institute
  • visualisations presenting Moscov - by Hovhanes Makarian
  • decorations connected with Russian culture
  • Russian cuisine, e.g. blinchiki with salmon – Babooshka restaurant
  • stalls presenting Russian culture
  • a DJ party in the rhythms of modern Russian music - DJ Ales


The event starts at 6:00 p.m.
Admission free.
