Dobra Karma and Radio Luxembourg clubs will be filled with unusual atmosphere of Far East on Friday, 9th November. There's going to perform Warsaw Gamelan Group, the only group in Central Europe performing traditional Indonesian music from Central Java, and both clubs will be full of smells of Indian cuisine and Asian music.
The event is going to present culture and traditions of South Asia and South-East Asia, focusing on the region of India and Indonesia.
The event takes place on the day when Diwali – Festival of Lights, the greatest Indian festival, is celebrated. It is regarded as a celebration of life and the occasion to strengthen family and social relationships. Diwali is a festival of light and joy as well as a sign of a New Year.
Continent Warsaw, Shamiana Association, Warsaw Gamelan Group, Basu Group, Radha Shop and Namaste India invite for a special meeting with the culture of South-East Asia region to feel the magic of the evening of Diwali Festival. Programme:
- ritual and ceremonial music from Yogyakarta and Surakarta cratons as well as popular music from Java by Warsaw Gamelan Group (the music of Gamelan, which is the traditional orchestra consisting various instruments and mainly metallophones, accompanies the Indonesians in almost every field of their lives)
- traditional Indonesian dance performed by Dennissee Peralta López and Maria Szymańska
- Indonesian theatre of shadows - Wayang Kulit
- visualisations and slideshows with photos from Indonesia as well as from India and Nepal
- Basu Group: a projection of 'Saptapadi' film (directed by Ajoy Kar), language: Bengali, subtitles: Polish, starts at 6 p.m., Dobra Karma club
- Radha Shop: traditional Indian clothes, jewellery, books, sculptures, CDs and DVDs
- Indian cuisine and presentation of preparing Indian dishes – by Namaste India restaurant
- DJ party with the best Asian music sets (DJ Don)
