3rd edition of the Cross-Culture Warsaw Festival is going to take place on 8th-16th September. Nine days full of concerts, workshops, films, theatre and circus, greatest names in ethno and roots music make this festival one of the most important events in the city.
We will be hosting artists from over 20 countries (including France, Italy, Romania, Ukraine, Guinea, Spain, Tuva, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Pakistan, Moldova, Norway, India, Bulgaria, Russia, Iran and Israel). The motto of the Festival comes from a book by Ryszard Kapuściński, Travels with Herodotus: 'Other worlds and other cultures are mirrors, in which we and our culture see our reflection'.
We chose it because it reflects in a concise and pithy manner the ideas that constitute the foundation of our festival.
The idea of an event that will stress the multicultural character of Warsaw in its historical and contemporary aspect has been initiated by the City Council.
Warsaw is a city which, as none other in Poland, hosts a very large group of newcomers – both from Poland and from all over the world. It is a city open to different cultures, a city interesting for others and interested in others.
The mission of the Festival is to evoke the need for learning, understanding and finding, i.e. for seeing one’s own reflection in other cultures and communities. Our big aim is to make the Festival one of the biggest annual events of the city, and eventually – its trademark in the world.
