Samba Batucada - Bloco Central Workshops

Under the patronage of the Bloco Central group, workshops of samba batucada take place periodically. Learning to play Brazilian percussion instruments: caixa, repique, tamborim, chocalho, agogo. Taking part in a large percussion section of samba (the so called "bateria"). Samba batucada is a thrilling and very energetic form of samba performed usually in a large group of people playing percussion instruments. Those instruments, thanks to their light construction, allow for free movement and taking part in parades such as the ones in Rio de Janeiro. The aim of the workshops is to popularize samba batucada and, in the long term, to include some of the member of the workshops to Bloco Central. The workshops open a possibility to participate in an organized percussion orchestra, the so called 'bloco'.

Programme:

:: Learning the technique to play the brazilian percussion instruments: sudo, caixa, repique, tamborim, chocalho, agogo

:: Learning the rhythms of samba from different schools: Tradicao; Mocidade, Mangueira

:: Learning other rhythms, such as: Samba Reggae, Funk, Afoxe, Marcha

:: Exercises that develop the coordination of simultaneous arms-legs operations

:: Preparing for the show in large bateria (the rythm section of samba schools) and for the participation in tha parades

:: Learning the universal system of signs and signals used in samba schools in Rio de Janeiro and adopted in many European countries, also in Poland. The adoption of this language of signs allows for an open exchange with sambistas all over the world

:: Friendly atmosphere, a lot of god fun and positive vibrations flowing through playing samba together


To take part in workshops, you do not need to have musical background or your own instrument.
