It was in 2002 when the idea of creating such a portal emerged and it was when the people involved in the project now were tramping through the forgotten by people and God regions of Caucasus. It was then when a few students fascinated about the environment and culture of Caucasus decided to create the service in Polish, at the beginning consisting of their own publications. The idea was being developing, the material was being collected and at last in the summer of 2006 the website was launched. And in the July of 2007 the new version of the portal was created with more interesting layout and more available materials.
The activities undertaken by the people creating the portal involves not only the website. The team of kaukaz.pl organizes (or cooperates on the organization) exhibitions, slideshows, lectures, festivals and events connected with Caucasian culture, being particularly focused on Georgia. The activities were appreciated by the Georgian Ambassador in Poland, Konstantin Kawtaradze, and were awarded with his special prize.
