TSLIL Jewish Choir (in Hebrew tslil = a sound) was founded in Lodz in March 2003 and a month later its Warsaw branch also began rehearsals. The Choir has about thirty members who perform independently and also during cultural and artistic events.

The aim of the group is to cultivate Jewish music heritage and promote tolerance and the idea of the dialogue between cultures. The repertoire of the Choir includes songs in Hebrew, Yiddish (the language of Ashkenazi group of Jews) and Ladino (the language of Sephardi group of Jews).

The Conductor

Izabella Krych - graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in choral conducting at the Music Education Department. She is also a student of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz.

She is a versatile musician, cooperating with various ensembles, such as the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the Warsaw University of Technology. Currently she cooperates with the TSLIL Jewish Choir and leads rehearsals for the Lodz branch of the Choir.

The Founder of the Choir

Agnieszka Najmałowska - graduated from the University of Music in Lodz in conducting. The idea of creating a choir was inspired by her first journey to Israel at the beginning of 2003 after which she made a contact with Jewish community in Poland. As a person graduating in music Agnieszka wanted to take part in reviving rich Jewish music traditions. Thanks to being involved in working with the Choir the conductor and all of its members have a chance to meet the Jewish heritage and consider their Jewish roots. Agnieszka had worked with the choir until February 2006.
