Sedativa's music is a fussion of various styles and genres, as reggae, jazz, rock, dub, arabic music, genuinely melting them into fresh and original adaptaions.
Sedativa came up to life in Warsaw in 2000 as a dub-electronic project started by Rami Al Ali from Syria (keyboards) and by Ignacy Pluzanski (groovebox).

The band gave their first performances in "Siekierki" (Jawor Records), and soon other people joined the band, Jurek "Buras" Burkacki (bass guitar) and Andrzej "Jawor" Jaworowski (guitar), previously member of Transmisja. Those two musicians added some fresh concepts and a new image of the project has been founded. Sedativa became a band playing live music.

Sedativa made it's record debut in 2001 with a song Chanting the water Away on the Dub out of Poland compilation. On that recording, the band's personnel has been supported by Marcin ''Ulan'' Ulanowski on percussion (Sistars), Dominik Trębski on trumpet (Fish), and Dariusz ''Pablo'' Pawilojcz on drums.

In 2005, after almost one year break, Ulan has been replaced by Sarhan Kubeisi, being still a member of the Satellite band.

In that time, Pablopavo (Vavamuffin) assisted the band in number of recordings, among the others a piece Banda Saskerland published on the Two Pigeons - The Kuba Wojewódzki show compilation and on the movie directed by Xawery Zulawski for the Polish Television Kultura channel. Movie showed Sedativa live performance in The Izerska Workshop in Szklarska Poreba. During the years 2005-2008 group gave many concerts in Warsaw clubs and in other Polish cities, as well on numerous festivals, as Fafa Festival, Ostroda Reggae Festival, Saski Reggae Festival, Africa Is Hungry Festival, and in the Jurek Owsiak's project Great Orchestra of the Christmas Help (Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy).

In 2008, band showed up with the piece All you need (lyrics by Krzysztof Ostas)
on the compilation cd attached to the Free colours magazine.

In that year, Sedativa musicians started working on their debut album. Material was recorded in Kings Tone Studio, with Dawid Portasz (Jafia Namuel, Rastasize) on vocal. All the mixing and reshaping was made by the outstanding Mario & Smok (Studio As One). Other invited musicians on this album: Bartek Szopiński(Hammond), Tomek Busławski(brass, wood-wind instruments). In 2009 Sarhan has been replaced by Marcin Ulanowski and Tomek "Tomacki" Mackiewicz joined the band.

Sedativa's music is a fussion of various styles and genres, as reggae, jazz, rock, dub, arabic music, genuinely melting them into fresh and original adaptations. Band's musicians utilize the remixing material in such a way, that it becomes their true and legitimate artistic expression. On their debut album, which is coming out in Poland 18.04.2011, Dawid Portasz gave outstanding vocal performance adding his characteristic bluesy voice into that already inter-cultural conglomerate. This brought stunning and dazing effect, making all these different musical styles and genres perfectly fitted into each other.
