This is the only Karaite cemetery in Poland and it's been still in use. Karaites arrived to Poland six hundred years ago from Crimea and they are an ethnic group of Turkish origin. They have their own language (Karaite) and beliefs (Karaite Judaism or Karaism) based on Old Testament and they are a minority having only about 120 members in Poland. The Karaites believe in an eternal, one, and incorporeal God, Creator of Universe, who gave the Tanakh to humankind, through Moses and the Prophets. Karaites trust in the Divine providence, hope for the coming of the Messiah.

The Cemetery was founded in 1890 and now there are only about forty graves. Karaite gravestones are similar to gravestones from many other graveyards but inscriptions are written in Karaite language.
