The Association (in Polish: Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Czterech Kontynentów) was founded in 1991 as an initiative of participants taking part in meetings called 'Spotkania Halińskie' that were organised since 1964 as symposia which aimed to promote issues related to non-European countries in the context of cooperation with Poland. The most important aim of the association is to undertake activities for comprehensive and mutual cooperation betweem Poland and countries in Asia, Africa, America and with Australia.
Members of association organise plenary session, conferences, symposia focused on social, economical, religion and culture issues of various parts and countries of the world as well as relations between Poland and various countries.
