PTO is a specialist scientific association which aim is to provide information about people, languages and culture of the East. PTO has been located in Warsaw since 1953. The former localizations were Lviv and Cracow. PTO organizes in Warsaw scientific meetings (sessions, conferences) and also its own congresses once in three years. Their aim is to deepen and promote the knowledge about the East. The Association has published Przegląd Orientalistyczny (Orientalistic Review) since 1949. The magazine is focused on such topics as history, languages or religions of the East.
