„Zhuravli” (“cranes” in English) is a representative choir of the Ukrainian Association in Poland. Its members belong to the Ukrainian minority living on the territories which are now administrative parts of Poland.
In 1947 within the action “Wisła” almost 150,000 Ukrainians were forced to move from the regions of South-Eastern Poland to the Regained Territories. Today their descendants live in all regions of Poland. Because of the geographical difficulties members of the choir meet only once a month on a weekend. Once they meet they work on new repertoire and organize concerts. They call their rehearsals “V-formations” referring to the migrations of wild birds.
