Bongo Bongo's music has its roots in traditional music but the compilation with elements of modern music makes it the unique African rumba. The group also performs zouk, soukous, kimbodila, reggae music.
There are used traditional dresses and instruments like conga, djembe, kisakasaka, ngongi, filimbi and of course modern instruments: percussion, bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, keybo.
