Centre for Slavic Culture was founded by Jan Zabrocki, a former employee of Polska Akademia Nauk (Polish Academy of Sciences) and the inspiration to found such a centre were his views on dialogue between nations: to his mind it strongly depends on the knowledge about cultures of nations. When Russian language started to be slowly removed from Polish schools and books published in the language as well as in other Slavic languages were removed from Polish bookstores, Jan Zabrocki decided to create a place where disappearing Slavic culture could still be available. The Centre was established in 1995 and carries out culture and educational programmes. The Centre also runs a bookstore - there are availbale books on literature, culture, linguistics, religions published in Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian, Slovak, Serbian, Macedonian. There are also books published by Slavic minorities in Poland.
